Opple Topple

What do you envision when you think of a music festival?  Tie-dye wearing hippies?  Psychedelic tapestries?  Cheap beer?

This all may be true at Opple Topple as well.  But this year at Opple Topple you will also be reminded of Morrocco.  Envision a tent out of Arabian nights.  White damask linens drape the tent.  At night the entire tent seems to glow.  Seductive belly dancers and exotic men entice you with mint tea and hookah pipes.  Decorative lanterns flicker in the candlelight.  An intoxicating perfume of incense is in the air.  A gypsy sits in the corner reading tarot cards.

Mint tea anyone?

If you are looking for something to do Father's Day weekend and you enjoy good music and camping.  Why not check out Opple Topple?  If you do go, make sure you stop by the Tea Party tent and say hello.

It's a Good Time to Get Down

Spring has sprung in NEPA!  For me that means it is time to come out of 'hibernation' and become active again.  Most weekends you will find me whitewater kayaking or at a music festivals.  My first music festival of the year will be Goodtimes Getdown.

Last year was my first time attending Goodtimes Getdown.  Part of the fun was competing in their glamping competition.  Glamping or glamourous camping sounded right up my alley.  We ended up winning first prize.

Everyone should have roses while camping.

Our winning setup got us invited to attend another festival, Opple Topple.  At Opple Topple we met some people that are now close friends.  It is crazy when you think of the domino effect that can happen when you put yourself out there.

Getting my glow on.

I understand that sometimes it is hard to take that first step.  Whether it may be striking up a conversation with someone, dancing in public, or trying something new.  I encourage everyone to get outside their comfort zone, try something new or something that you've always wanted to do.

Our "lava" floored living room.

If I have happened to inspire you to come to Goodtimes Getdown, stop by the blue glowing tent and say hello.  You never know what you could happen next!

I am not a juggler!

That was confirmed the first time I visited the Pocono Juggle Fest.  However, I have seen the fest grow to now include other circus arts.  At this year's event, Cheryl "Twinfinity" Honchen was vending and teaching twin hooping.  "Twinning" also isn't my thing.  My left hand is not a team player.  But if twin or body hooping interests you, Twinfinity is an amazing instructor based in Lehighton, PA.  You can checkout Twinfinity on Facebook.

Crack!  That familiar sound got my attention.  The gentleman making the sonic boom was Kyle Mertz of Kyle's Kracking Whips.  My boyfriend's son shares my love of whip cracking.  Kyle and I looked on with pride (and ringing ears) as we watched him crack his whip.

Kyle was curious about corsets.

Human sized hamster balls, rolla bolla, hover craft it is easy to understand why it is a three day fest.  If your curiosity is peaked, you can keep up to date on their website.

I have a year to get better at handling balls.

Jim Thorpe Earth Day

There are certain annual events that I look forward to every year, this is one of them!
Flyer Designed for Earth Day by our very own Dan Mazmanian!

Every year Jim Thorpe's Earth Day seems to get bigger and better.  If the lineup for this year is any indication, this may be the best year yet!

Am Rev 2 & the Eclectic Circus!!!

What could be better then hanging out in beautiful downtown Jim Thorpe and dancing to great music?   Last year I had a blast performing with Am Rev 2 & the Eclectic Circus.  I know we try to outdo ourselves every year.  How are we going to top last year?

2014:  Mother Earth, Tree Ent & Pan
How will you know it's me amongst all the Circus Woodland Creatures?  Here's a hint:  I plan on being a little "cocky".  I hope to see you there!
